The Cyclones should be heavy buyers when it comes to the transfer portal this offseason. Today they had their first commitment via the portal. This being Eric Mulder, an incoming senior from Purdue Fort Wayne, where he spent the past three seasons. Mulder is familiar with Iowa as he is an Oskaloosa native, and attended Pella Christian. He now comes back home for his senior season for the Cyclones.
What He Brings to the Table:
Mulder, the 6'8" forward, is known for his high motor and ability on both sides of the ball. He is a great finisher around the rim, leading the entire division one in 2-pt percentage at 78%. Though he is not known for his shooting ability, he will be a big help in the paint. He had a season high of 15 points, so he will not be relied on to score at a high clip. Not to mention he is an above average rebounder, averaging 6.7 per game. In the 24 games he played, he recorded eight or more rebounds in 10 of those games. Will be a big factor on the glass on both ends.
On the defensive side, he will fit right in with the Otzelberger philosophy that is the Cyclone nature these days. He put up 29 steals and 16 blocks in his total games played, had 46 and 34 the previous season. In the 23-24' season, he was second in the Horizon League in defensive rating, further proving his impact on the defensive end.
24-25' Stats: 8.4 Pts, 6.7 Reb, 0.2 Ast, 1.2 Stl, 0.7 Blk, 76% FG
Mulder should become an instant impact with his offensive efficiency, tenacious rebounding, and defensive efforts. The Cyclones start portal season off right.
